Hammerite Paint is specially formulated to be applied directly onto rusty metal with minimal surface preparation. Simply remove any loose rust with a wire brush or coarse sandpaper and clean the surface with brush cleaner & thinners and allow time to dry.

What is Hammerite paint?
Hammerite paint is a single pack, air drying corrosion resistant and decorative coating. It is based on synthetic resins and is suitably pigmented for optimum weathering properties. Hammerite is fast drying and capable of multi-coat application any time after 4 hours.
Does Hammerite need two coats?
Apply two thin coats of Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Paint in Smooth finish for the best results, leaving to dry in between as per instructions on back of pack.
Do I need a primer with Hammerite?

Can Hammerite be repainted with alkyd-containing gloss paint? Direct To Rust: For the Smooth finish generally yes, but we recommend doing a test patch. With regard to the Hammered finish and Smooth Gold / Silver, they can be over-coated with gloss paint but additional preparation will be needed.
Can you rub down hammerite?

How long does hammerite take to fully cure?
I’ve used Hammerite in the past, left it a couple of days after application but it still seems to get dinged awfully easily when being assembled with other bits. About 2 months i think to fully cure. Weird stuff is hammerite. Shove the bits in the oven on a low temp for an hour, that will cure it
